Having little or no hope; in despair.

Hopeless is defined as having little or no hope. It is a feeling of futility and passive abandonment of oneself to fate. It suggests despair and the cessation of effort or resistance and often implies acceptance or resignation. It is having no expectation of, or showing no sign of, a favorable outcome. Hopeless is very close in meaning to desperate because they both describe an absence of hope. In desperate, though the absence of hope can lead us to take actions that we might regret.

Example: She had been trying to have a child for years, she was feeling hopeless to have one.
