To bother or annoy to the point of causing anger.
Feeling exasperated is to be bothered or annoyed to the point of causing anger. So feeling exasperated is closely linked to anger and can quickly transform into anger. We are often experiencing exasperation when something that is already bad gets even worse, like when sitting in traffic that is sure to make you late.
Let’s compare exasperated with one of its synonyms, frustrated. The main difference is that exasperated doesn’t convey disappointment like "frustrated" does. We feel frustrated when we fail to achieve our goals. We are exasperated when something or someone stops us from doing what we want.
Example: She was exasperated at the delay.
