A feeling of being sorry or responsible for having done something wrong.
Guilt is a very special feeling that everyone experiences. It can be defined as a feeling of being sorry or responsible for having done something wrong. It is often used to educate children or to make people do what we want. Of course, this is not an NVC tool, it is rather the opposite.
Brené Brown who has studied guilt and shame for many years believes that unlike shame, "guilt is adaptive and helpful – it’s holding something we’ve done or failed to do up against our values and feeling psychological discomfort." I’ll let you make your own mind about it but it is an interesting start thinking about it.
Example: He felt so much guilt over leaving his family.
